“Nobody is on trial here,” he said, but noted the jury can refer the case for criminal charges if it finds evidence of negligence.
The inquest has been postponed until Nov. 19 due to the approach of Tropical Storm Noel. About 35 witnesses are scheduled to testify.
Virgie Arthur flew to the Bahamas for the proceedings but Howard K Stern and Larry Birkhead were not present. Arthur has suggested that Daniel died as a result of foul play. “I hope this starts the process of justice,” Arthur told reporters as she entered the courthouse today. In February, Arthur claimed in a television interview that Smith’s friend-attorney Howard K. Stern played a role in both deaths, but she didn’t provide evidence.
Daniel Smith died Sept. 10, 2006, as he visited his mother three days after she gave birth in a Nassau hospital to her daughter, Dannielynn. Dr Cyril Wecht, a private pathologist said Daniel died from a combination of drugs, including methadone and antidepressants.
Anna Nicole Smith died in Florida on Feb. 8 at age 39 from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, including the painkiller methadone and a powerful sleep aid.

I don’t think Ford Shelly meant to help in Howards defense, but he did , when he said he saw howard remove pills from Daniels pockets. and go flush them. Lie or not, if Howard were to blame why would Daniel have the pills in his pocket?? if howard was trying. I anyone had given him the pillss to take, i doubt they would have given him extras. So those pills were Daniels to begin with. so there is really no story there. I Howard is trying to protect Anna, because he thought she may have given him something to help him sleep, would be another srory. Thats the one i would believe. Remember at the funeral, while getting in a car, she started screaming I’m sorry, “m sorry, i don’t want a husband, I just want my son, . That may be why also she could not stand to live. Why she did not want live. She wished her self dead. And she got her wish.
After Daniel died Anna went into a spiral spin. She wanted to be with Daniel, Anna thought he was alone and wanted to be with him.She knew that Danilynne would taken care of.

Anna/Vickie wanted to join ‘him’ (daniel) yet, she had a newborn to take care of.
That newborn, daughter, really needed her, and will need her in the future…but her mother will not be there…not physically, anyway.
Hope, Anna’s Spirit is strong enough to guide her daughter…or rather, hope that baby girl gets a new mother, that will take care of her through her early years, and especially when she ‘learns’ what her mother did.
I’m a ‘well wisher’ often pessimistic, sometimes optimistic.
Hope Dannielynn, learns to be the best she can be, and looks forward to the future and not back at the past…except for the knowledge to guide her to a bright future.
I Hope Dannielynn will learn to believe and trust ‘in’ herself.
