Daniel Smith Inquest Continues

in Anna Nicole Smith, Daniel Smith, Daniel Smith Inquest, Virgie Arthur

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

The inquest into the death of Daniel Smith reconvened late today. I have have not found any television stations or websites covering but, “TheRestOfTheStory” is on the job and found a Bahamian radio station with some news and she reported the following…

The inquest was pushed back to l:00 p.m. today as per Love 97 radio. Wayne Munroe is what set the time back from l0:00a.m. to l:00 p.m. He was busy with new filings this a.m.

The nannies can not be found despite repeated calls to their attorney Liz Thompson. She has not returned calls and inquiries.

http://www.streamcomedia.com/love97streamplayerinfo.html

Thanks so much for sharing that information and the link.

The nurse who is said to have heard Anna Nicole lash out at Howard after Daniel’s death, is rumored to be missing as well as “the nannies”. We will update this page with news as soon as it becomes available.

Update: Surprise witness testified today at the inquest. Ford Shelley testified he believed Daniel Smith could not have been a drug addict because he was “afraid of his own shadow” and “couldn’t even hold his liquor.”

http://www.kxxv.com/global/story.asp?s=7793272

Update: Fox News is reporting now in more detail.

Earlier in the day, the lab director for the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office testified that a large dose of methadone taken by Daniel Smith was the primary factor behind his death.

“But for the methadone he would not have died,” said Hern, who said he did not believe the young man was a habitual user of the drug.

Under questioning by Director of Public Prosecutions Bernard Turner, Hern said he felt the 20-year-old’s death was the result of an “intentional” overdose because the methadone ingested was such a large amount taken in such a short period of time.

Wasn’t there a nurse that couldn’t be found for testimony also? IIRC it is the nurse that saw hks leave for a second time?

2 freida January 29, 2008 at 7:24 PM

no news is good news

right?

3 LETS NOT FORGET January 29, 2008 at 8:10 PM

Don’t you remember the last time the inquest was on they showed a tape showing that Howard had not left a second time like was stated.

4 freida January 29, 2008 at 8:15 PM

Forgive my vowels…

But even when Judge Seidlin detained him (Howard),…

And while he was getting ripped off, not only or just Anna…

Howard staid the course.

Of course, he had a great nanny looking after Dannielynn, he at least, trusted her…

And I do, too!!!!!

She’s much more than a ‘nanny’ I think.

5 freida January 29, 2008 at 8:49 PM

What’s wrong, or who is ‘lost’ in this picture…it’s all in the details.

It’s very unsettling that the nurse is still missing and now the nannies.
VERY unsettling. Does anyone know if the nurse is technically a “missing person” in the legal sense?

Many people have said they had been threatened by Nazarian ‘goons’ and I believe them even more so now…..Ray Martino, Ford Shelly, G Ben Thompson, Jack Harding, Donald Hart before his TV appearance, the nannies way back when this all started, and others.

As Rita says, all these people, many who don’t even know each other, are all lying and only Howard is telling the truth?????
Methinks NOT!

And of course we’ve had since April the strong arm attempts to suppress and intimidate the media by Lin Wood et al with threats of lawsuits. Sad how many in the media rolled over. Also sad is how many went along with this orchestrated campaign to malign Virgie Arthur.

We saw a resurgence of these strong arm intimidation tactics when Rita’s book came out, threating lawsuits to any show or media outlet who dared to have Rita on as a guest, something they do all the time with authors who are on book promoting tours following the release of their books.
Again, sad that many shows rolled over, and some who didn’t seemed very confrontational with Rita.

What’s reassuring, though, is that the book was NOT pulled from the shelves! HaHa Mr. Wood! How’d that work out for you? You’re not as good as you thought, aye?

I wonder how much richer the nannies are tonight. Looks like Liz may have found “someone” to pay the asking price for their cooperation.

9 bluemoon January 29, 2008 at 10:52 PM

I understand that the court in the Bahamas can not force people from the States to be present at the Inquest. Can’t they force people from the Bahamas to be present?

10 MirandaRights January 29, 2008 at 11:06 PM

First those people would have to be “found.” An individual takes threats seriously when two people are already buried. It’s no coincidence that key witnesses are unable to attend.

The Sterns came right here to get help in stifling the truth from emerging at the inquest. They inundated the net with cries for aid. They pulled out all the stops to obstruct DWS’s inquest and may succeed if those who truly loved Danny and Annie aren’t able to stop the cover-up cycle.

11 Mish January 29, 2008 at 11:23 PM

The last time the inquest was in session. Wasnt there something about the Nurses testimony contradicting each others?

12 AlamoGirl January 29, 2008 at 11:29 PM

The nurse and the surveillance tape from the hospital is missing.

13 Carole January 29, 2008 at 11:32 PM

Does anyone know is Nazarian in the Baha’s tonight?

14 bluemoon January 29, 2008 at 11:36 PM

Will TMZ be covering this?

15 Mish January 29, 2008 at 11:40 PM

TMZ hasnt said anything.

My comment I was talking about was when they testified as far as the pill sfound.

Anyone know?

Like the nannies, the nurse who found the Methadone in Stern’s bed and said he left the hospital twice is “missing.”

The Florida expert testified that Daniel would have taken the methadone around 5:30 a.m.
and that it was intentional.

Ford Shelly testified that Daniel was not suicidal and to hks flushing the pills.

Thanks, Tropicana. :)

21 missmarple January 30, 2008 at 12:35 AM

For months on end we have listened to Team Stern spew out their warped theory that Ford Shelly would not dare to show up for the inquest.

Wrong, as usual.

I don’t for a second believe that Daniel willingly took those drugs.

I once said that in the end it will be Shelly that will prove to be the only friend Anna had during her stay in the Bahamas. I applaud him for going to the inquest and keeping them honest.

Howard Stern, the usual suspect should be very, very ashamed. However, that would require a conscience, moral fibre and a backbone. All of which are lacking in the darkness that is Stern!

Wait a second…how in the world does this Florida “expert” (wonder how much he was paid) knows that it was intentional???
Does he mean that DANIEL took it intentionally? Or that it was GIVEN to him intentionally??

Not necessarily asking you, Rest of the Story, just wondering out loud is all. :)

Also, glad to hear Ford Shelly testified. He’s a man of his word, contrary to all the Stern supporters saying he wouldn’t show. *Bet* they lost some bets on that one, lol.

It looks like there are more questions than answers, alas. :(

Officer Testifies Gibson, Wife Were In Hospital After Smith Died
By Tosheena Robinson-Blair

Drug Overdose Theory

“It’s quite possible that he could have come here with a cumulative build-up of methadone in his body? Theoretically, he could have come here with toxic levels in his body?” Coroner William Campbell asked Mr. McCartney before reading an advisory from the Federal Drug Administration [FDA] about the drugs’ harmful side effects.

Mr. McCartney admitted it was quite “possible.”

He pointed out that in addition to the .790 milligrams of methadone found in Smith’s bloodstream there were also 22 milligrams found in his stomach that suggested it would have been recently consumed prior to death.

The coroner estimated that if Smith took a 5 milligram or 10 milligram methadone pill every eight hours, he would have had to consume more than 20 to account for the significant level of methadone in his blood stream and stomach.

Mr. McCartney agreed.

“Intentional” = not an accident. The methadone entered into Daniels body with the “intent” to make him dead.

There is no indication thus far that Daniel was suicidal, which would mean that the methadone entered Daniel’s body in an amount large enough to cause his death from a source other than Daniel.

So the question on the table is this. Where did the methadone come from. That answer will lead us to the person(s) who wanted him dead.

Police Corporal Yvette Deveaux also testified about 26 tablets found in Smith’s suitcase. Ms. Deveaux also told the court that Nurse Patricia Laing gave her two pills and told her she retrieved them from Smith’s hand.

However, Inspector Taylor testified that Laing said she had gotten the tablets from another nurse.

Last month, Nurse Nadine Carey told the court that she found two pills on the bed that other witnesses testified was occupied by Mr. Stern.

On Tuesday, the court also viewed digital images obtained from the hospital’s surveillance cameras of Mr. Stern and Daniel Smith’s arrival to the hospital on September 9, and Smith accompanying his mother, Anna Nicole, around the maternity ward.

The coroner’s inquest resumes at 10am today.

It’s clear what Munroe is doing.

He’s casting doubt on reality.

That’s what defense attorneys do, and if I’m not mistaken, Munroe defends the worst of the worst criminals in the Bahamas.

My heart goes out to Virgie.
It must be so hard for her to listen to the spin, the lies, the disinformation about her dear grandson, yet she goes and endures with grace, strength, and dignity.

You have much love and support out here, Mrs. Arthur.
God Bless!

37 Rachel January 30, 2008 at 2:44 AM

Munroe is defending his client, I mean witness. Ironic isn’t it? And yes, it would be job as a defense attorney to ask questions of witness that would make it appear as if Daniel was depressed and suicidal.

However, I would imagine that the jury will see those pictures taken of Daniel hours before his death. We now have FS’s testimony about the pills that were flushed by Stern and the nurse’s testimony about the pills found in the bed that Stern was sleeping in.

There is no indication that Daniel was suicidal at that time. None whatsoever.

38 Mo January 30, 2008 at 2:44 AM

Anyone know the source of Daniel taking methadone for pain other than Martino or stern? Is there anything or anyone else who can substantiate that statement?

He must have been pretty darn proud of himself. He even took trophy pictures of his prey while cradled in the arms of the grieving “love of his life” who was next on his list. That ought to tell you exactly what that creep was feeling as he snapped those awful pictures.

41 Rachel January 30, 2008 at 2:56 AM

I don’t think there is anyone, Mo.

Nobody has testified and no medical records have been produced to indicate that Daniel took methadone for pain at any time.

That said, we certainly know that Anna had methadone and Stern had access to it in the Bahamas. One would think that if Daniel had a prescription of methadone for pain he would not willingly have taken that amount in the Bahamas and would certainly be more knowledgeable about the consequences.

However, it seems more likely that the methadone was acquired from Anna’s “stash” and the question on the table is how it came to be that Anna’s methadone entered Daniel’s system in such quantity as to kill him.

I hope this Inquest continues without further interruption so that the jury can decide.

42 Carole January 30, 2008 at 3:09 AM

Rachel, I agree with your definition of intentional….the methadone was given to him with the intent of killing him. I hope the jury sees that, and I hope McCabe has grasped that fact, and will press it home.

43 Mo January 30, 2008 at 3:14 AM

Thank you, Rachel and I quite agree with what you had to say. I guess what I’m trying to get at is other than the stern camp, there is no other source. Forgive me, but I don’t trust what anything the stern camp has to say.

44 MirandaRights January 30, 2008 at 4:41 AM

At last the truth is coming out, that Daniel didn’t do drugs and wasn’t suicidal. Thus he was slain by a psychopath who will soon meet a fate worse than death.

Kudos to Ford Shelley and Thompson who will testify tomorrow along with the nannies.

It have never being stated if the 26 pills found in Daniel’s bag were in a bottle, prescribe to him and by whom,or if they were in sample packets. Also, what pills were those.

Does anyone knows the facts about those pills?

48 AlamoGirl January 30, 2008 at 2:18 PM

The 26 pills found in Daniels suitcase and the 2 pills found in his hand were planted by Howard. IMO

49 Karma January 30, 2008 at 2:30 PM

I think the two pills were found in Stern’s bed, not Daniel’s hand. There is no way that Daniel could have fallen asleep without relaxing his hand enough to let anything he held fall to the floor.

And yes, I too believe that if any drugs were found in Daniel’s suitcase, Stern planted them. Anyone who would flush pills to “take care of a problem” would also plant drugs to take care of nother “problem”

You see, if it was Stern’s intent to protect Daniel and his reputation from a true suicide scenario, he would have removed drugs from all sources, not just the ones in the hospital room that Daniel died in.

50 Mee January 30, 2008 at 3:49 PM

The amount injested was intentional. That kid did not commit suicide, nor was he a big methadone user. get real people and stop the spinning. It is just my opinion that kid was given it somehow with the intent to have him die! That points to one person only. Hope they hang the SOB!

51 Mee January 30, 2008 at 4:25 PM

No one that is committing suicide ask’s ” why am I so tired”.

52 MirandaRights January 30, 2008 at 4:29 PM

As Marple so wisely said, Ford Shelley is a true friend to the Smiths.

Can’t help but notice the Sternoids have crawled back inside the rotting woodwork from which they came.

Fortunately for THEM the bright and fair QV isn’t into public humiliations or else their wretched names would be emblazoned here a foot high, highlighting what low-life Murder Apologists they really are.

I am duly impressed that out of all the creatures who were high on the perpetuation of evil that QV had the innate intelligence to see right through them.

53 Carole January 30, 2008 at 4:53 PM

Daniel did not commit suicide by Sterns own statement. He said that Daniel told him to take the bed because he wasn’t sleepy. A short time later Daniels asks him “Why am I so tired?” Howard planted ground up pills in Daniels drink.

54 Carole January 30, 2008 at 4:55 PM
