What a cute Tom Turkey! I’ll be heading off to my daughters house in a bit to add my goodies to her goodies and her Mother in Law’s goodies and will probably eat too much.

I can remember when my granddad would always kill the turkey we had for Thanksgiving. For those of you who have never had anything but store bought turkey, I can tell you its a strange site! Granddaddy had a chopping block, and he’d get the turkey by the head, pull him over the block and chop his head off. What amused us kids no end was that the turkey body would jump and start running away….without a head! Our job was to keep the dogs from catching it before it fell over.

Then of course, Granddaddy would put the turkey into a huge outdoor iron pot of boiling water for a minute, then pull it out and we had to pluck all the feathers off the bird. We got to make Indian bonnets with the feathers.

Cool stuff. I miss my grandfathers, grandmothers, and my dear sweet mother. Today I will give thanks that I was blessed with them and the memories they’ve given me. I’ll give thanks for our forefathers who fought so hard to make this land free, and for the service men who fight, even to this day to make sure that freedom cannot be taken from us. I’ll give thanks for my friends whereever they are today. And when I’m miseable with bloating and indigestion after the feast, I’ll thank got for alka-seltzer.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy T-Day Carole. I must say that only turkey I ever saw came from the grocery store straight to the pot. My stepmom is a southern gal like yourself and she can cook like a gourmet. She has taught me a few tricks over the years but I love going to my parents house every year and being with family. Thats the best part. We all contribute too. So I am off to load the car.

Hope you and everyone reading has a great day. Then back to reality and the horrible terrorist activities in India. Very sad. Although since Americans were targeted along with British citizens, it makes me wonder why they didn’t come here to do their dirty deeds. My guess is they couldn’t. Our government is watching too close. I wonder how many of their plans have been aborted since 9/11.

I’m heading out the door also.
QV I hear that the NY subway system is on full alert, so I pray everyone has a safe day.

I remember chickens running around after they got their heads chopped off…we couldn’t afford turkey when I was a kid.

It sure is nice to be thankful for a few good men, today!!!

That mess in India is just plain sad…I bunch of kids that grow up believing that hurting others is what they should do. Passed down from generation to generation, I think…and then they’re always the one’s like Jim Jones that ‘lead they stray sheep’ away.

Hope no one is drinking KoolAid today!
