With extensions granted and apparent problems with settlement terms agreed to, the late Anna Nicole Smith’s attorney Howard K. Stern has settled his defamation lawsuit against Houston Texas attorney John O’Quinn.
O’Quinn represents the late Anna Nicole Smith’s mother, Virgie Arthur. During and after hearings in Florida to decide Anna Nicole’s final resting place, O’Quinn went on various television shows and implied that Stern was responsible for the death of Anna Nicole Smith and her son Daniel.
A prior announcement one month ago on October 30th, 2008 that the lawsuit was settled led to speculation that the terms may not have been too fruitful for Stern because settlement negotiations were officially postponed due to Florida Attorney Robert Klein having the flu. The negotiations did take place after all on the date that Judge Dimitrouleas had postponed. And there was no public statement from Stern.
The negotiations were allowed to continue until today, December 1st when the “Stipulation For Entry of Dismissal With Prejudice” and “Final Order of Dismissal” was filed.
The only terms revealed are that certain pages of a deposition given by O’Quinn investigator and consultant Don Clark dated October 14th, 2008, will no longer be confidential. The terms of the settlement are “strictly confidential” and neither party is permitted to comment except to say “the matter has been amicably resolved”.

I hope we get to know what those 7 pages say….SOON! lol…There is this little devil running around my screen whispering “Remember Watergate”!
I’ve had the fly swatter after it all evening, but can’t seem to connect. Do you have a pair of gloves and a trenchcoat I can borrow?
Lol Carole! So much for Stern fixing his “reputation” through this lawsuit.
HK$ should be prosecuted for NEGLIGENCE….ANS was drug induced…HK$ provided the drugs!!!!
John O’Quinn showed up on many TV programs and accused Howard K Stern of double murder, insurance fraud, multi-million dollar theft. John O’Quinn ignored Police and ME reports and constantly attacked Mr.Stern on national TV programs. John “Texas legend” O’Quinn should have known better.Justice and truth prevailed.I hope Howard will find his peace and happiness. After many years of pain and distress, he deserved it.
Prevailed? If you insist.
I think Woodie “lost” this case through mediation. I think this case had to be done and over with by November 1, and Woodie was compelled to cave.
Prevailed? I’ve yet to hear O’Quinn say he was wrong. I yet to hear him apologize. So much for the so called reputation restoration.
Prevailed? Could it be that Woodie’s offer to settle did not sit too well with Stern, because he didn’t get his millions? Maybe that is the reason for the delay in the joint stipulation filing to begin with.
Just because it under cover doesn’t mean it was fun.
You make a good point about “double murder, insurance fraud, multi-million dollar theft”. Because according to the records all that will be said is that its settled. No apology. No retraction of what O’quinn said. Another lie by Stern that he was worried about rep. The public lies are piling up and are going to come back and bite Stern in the a-ss.
QV, have you heard of an amended lawsuit of Virgies with LB allegations added?
Yes, right here.
Link
You know I’m thinkin’ of a song, and I can’t put my finger on it right now.
QV thanks for providing that link. I was interested in that (especially about LB) and when I get a chance later I’ll read it. Have a good day.
